Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola dismisses claims that Erling Braut Haaland has a release clause in his contract that may help Real Madrid complete a transfer in 2024.

Pep Guardiola has dismissed talk that Manchester City forward Erling Braut Haaland has a clause in his contract that could help facilitate a move to Real Madrid.

The European champions were one of a number of clubs that were believed to be interested in acquiring Haaland's services in the summer, before the Norway international opted to join Man City from Borussia Dortmund.

Haaland has already become an important player for the Citizens after registering 19 goals and three assists in 12 appearances, including a brace in Wednesday's 5-0 victory over FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Despite already being a leading figure in the Man City squad, a recent report suggested that the striker has a release clause in his contract that would present Real Madrid with a chance to sign him in 2024.

However, speaking after Man City's commanding win, Guardiola has denied that such a clause exists in the player's contract.

As quoted by James Robson, Guardiola said: "It's not true. He has not a release clause for Real Madrid or any other team. It's not true. That's all I can say. Rumours we cannot control."

Having only recently signed for the Premier League champions, Haaland is under contract with the club until June 2027.

After racking up 11 goals in their last two games - five of which were scored by Haaland - Man City will attempt to claim a third consecutive victory in Saturday's home league meeting with Southampton.
