Manchester City are reportedly in advanced talks with Santos over a move to sign Neymar.
The 20-year-old forward, who has scored 17 goals in 27 senior international appearances for Brazil, is believed to be valued at around £32m.
City director of football Txiki Begiristain spent two days in South America last week.
It was originally claimed that the purpose of Begiristain's trip was to complete an £11m deal for Corinthians midfielder Paulinho.
However, according to The Telegraph, the City official was attempting to clinch a deal that would see Neymar move to the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.
Neymar's current contract expires in July 2014.
