Paul Scholes critical of Manchester United's play in CSKA Moscow draw

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes takes a swipe at the Red Devils' lack of movement in the first half of their meeting with CSKA Moscow.

Paul Scholes has accused former side Manchester United of lacking ambition due to the slow nature of their play in the 1-1 draw at CSKA Moscow.

Anthony Martial earned the Red Devils a point in the Champions League clash at the Arena Khimki after being at fault for Seydou Doumbia's first-half opener.

Speaking on BT Sport at the interval, with United still trailing by a single goal, Scholes was quick to criticise Louis van Gaal's charges for a lack of attacking threat.

"That's the big difference between the teams - the movement," he said. "CSKA's right-back had sensational movement, Doumbia had great movement.

"Then you look at United's team and there was no quality or movement, people were not moving. But I don't understand why. Is it the way they are told to play? It is all safety across the pitch, I can't remember a pass into Wayne Rooney."

United now trail Wolfsburg by two points in Group B, with three games still left to play.
