Lescott: No problems with Terry

Joleon Lescott is adamant that there is harmony among the England players, despite John Terry's controversial call-up to the Three Lions squad.

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has insisted that there is no tension in the England squad with regards to John Terry's inclusion.

The Chelsea skipper was named in Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad for the European Championships at the expense of Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand.

While some have suggested that Hodgson's call was based on Terry's upcoming trial, where the Champions League winner will answer allegations of racism towards Queens Park Rangers defender and Ferdinand's brother Anton, the former West Bromwich Albion coach has insisted that the decision was made based on football reasons.

"We're all here for the same reason and that's to do well for England," said Lescott. "I think in the Spain squad we were all together and we produced two good performances so it's proven that there's no animosity in the squad."

Terry will join up with the Three Lions next week alongside Blues teammates Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole following an extended break awarded after the club's Champions League triumph.
