Three Spain stars Manchester United could sign this summer

Sports Mole looks at three Spain stars Manchester United could look to bring to Old Trafford this summer.

David de Gea, Gerard Pique, Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are among the Spanish players to have turned out for Manchester United during their careers.

The Red Devils could potentially be keeping a close eye on La Roja at Euro 2024, with a number of players from Luis de la Fuente's side thought to be of interest to the English giants.

Here, Sports Mole picks out three members of Spain's current squad who could potentially make the move to Old Trafford during this summer's transfer window.

Joselu - Espanyol (on loan at Real Madrid)

Joselu enjoyed an excellent 2023-24 campaign on loan at Real Madrid, scoring 17 goals and registering three assists in 49 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti's side in all competitions.

The 34-year-old netted 10 times in La Liga, as Los Blancos won the title, while he also contributed five Champions League goals en route to his loan team's success.

Joselu famously scored two late goals against Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the Champions League to help Real Madrid reach the final, but his future is unclear.

Indeed, the striker is only on loan from Espanyol, who are attempting to secure a return to La Liga from the Segunda Division, and a decision on his future has not been made.

Joselu has previously played in the Premier League for Newcastle United and Stoke City, and he could be the perfect player for Man United youngster Rasmus Hojlund to learn from next season.

Dani Olmo - RB Leipzig

Olmo's future is again the subject of speculation, with a number of clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, said to be long-term admirers of the versatile attacker.

Man United are also said to be keen, and it is understood that the 26-year-old has a €60m (£51m) release clause in his current deal, making him an affordable option.

Olmo had his injury problems during the 2023-24 campaign but still managed to contribute eight goals and five assists in 25 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions.

Man United need to boost their attacking options this summer, and Olmo seemingly has the perfect skillset for the Premier League, while his game intelligence makes him a very interesting option.

The ex-Barcelona youngster, who is expected to play an important role for his country at Euro 2024, has scored 29 goals and registered 34 assists in 148 appearances for his German team in all competitions.

Martin Zubimendi - Real Sociedad

Zubimendi's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with both Barcelona and Arsenal believed to be keen to sign the Real Sociedad midfielder.

However, Man United have also previously been linked with his services, and the Red Devils are certainly in the market for a new central midfielder this summer.

Zubimendi again demonstrated his quality during the 2023-24 campaign, making 45 appearances in all competitions, and he has now represented his Basque side on 188 occasions.

The 25-year-old has a contract with his current team until June 2027, but the existence of a release clause in his agreement makes him attainable this summer.

The buy-out fee is said to be around €60m (£51m), which could prove to be a bargain in the current market, and it will be interesting to see how much football he plays for Spain this summer.
