Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho could be involved in Saturday evening's FA Cup contest with Reading at Old Trafford.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has revealed that Jadon Sancho could be involved in Saturday evening's FA Cup contest with Reading at Old Trafford.

The England international has not played for the Red Devils since the end of October, with his last outing coming against Chelsea in the Premier League more than three months ago.

Sancho has recently been on a personal training programme, but the 22-year-old is now back in first-team training, and he has a chance of being in the squad against Reading in the FA Cup.

"He is training with the team and we will see. He is improving, he is making steps, we will make the decision after the training," Ten Hag told reporters on Friday afternoon.

"He's on the way back, he's making steps, so he's back in team training and now we have to see when he is ready to go back into the games.

"We always have issues, but I think tomorrow, we have a strong selection for this game. We have a good squad, we have depth in the squad, so we can cover things."

Ten Hag also revealed that Diogo Dalot will again be missing due to a hamstring problem, while Luke Shaw is a major doubt due to the illness that ruled him out of the EFL Cup semi-final first leg with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

As a result, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrell Malacia could again feature as the full-backs against Reading.

"Dalot is definitely out, and I think also Shaw [is] a question mark. We have to see after this training session, after this day, if he [Shaw] is available or not," Ten Hag added.

"I think Aaron and Ty are playing magnificent at the moment. On Wednesday, they were really brilliant. The whole back four was brilliant on Wednesday.

"We are happy in the back four, we have depth in the squad. That's what we need when you have to cover 10 games in 30 days and hopefully it will continue after that as well."

Ten Hag also said that Man United are only favourites "on paper" against Reading, with the Red Devils needing to do the business on the field.

"(Favourites) but that's on paper, football is never decided on paper, we have to be ready for every game, every opponent will be tough, especially in the cup for them, it's a perfect chance, we have to be aware of that, be on the front foot, focused and energy," said the Dutchman.

"We want to win every game, so we plan every game fully and the next game is also the most important game."

Man United will enter the contest off the back of a 3-0 victory over Forest in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday night, with Wout Weghorst netting his first goal for the club in the comfortable win.
