Louis van Gaal to discuss Manchester United future with board

Louis van Gaal insists that he is not looking beyond the end of the season following Manchester United's stoppage-time win over Everton in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has insisted that he is not looking beyond the end of the season after his side made it through to the FA Cup final with a last-gasp win over Everton.

Chris Smalling's own goal appeared to be sending the match to extra time until Anthony Martial swept home in the final minute of stoppage time.

Van Gaal was pressed on the future of the club with youngsters like Martial and Marcus Rashford impressing, but he said that he was not thinking that far ahead.

"I'm not looking beyond this competition. We live in the present. For the future, I discuss that with my board and not with you," he told reporters.

The Dutchman, whose current contract runs until the summer of 2017, was then asked if he would consider winning the FA Cup but failing to qualify for the Champions League a success.

The 64-year-old said: "It is not for me to judge – it is for the board of Manchester United."

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is odds-on to become the next Man United manager and is reportedly waiting in the wings to take over this summer.
