Cristiano Ronaldo's record vs. Everton

Sports Mole looks at Cristiano Ronaldo's record against Everton ahead of Manchester United's Premier League clash with the Toffees.

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to return to the starting XI for Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

The 37-year-old was unavailable for his team's league contest with Leicester City last weekend, which finished 1-1, through illness, being ruled out of the match at a late stage.

However, Man United's interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that the Portugal international will be back in the squad for the trip to the relegation-threatened Toffees.

Ronaldo's future remains the subject of much speculation, and his role in the team continues to be questioned, but he has scored 18 times and registered three assists in 32 outings at club level this term.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the attacker has fared against the Toffees in the past.

All 13 of Ronaldo's appearances against Everton have come during his time at Man United, and he has a strong record versus the Merseyside club, recording eight wins, four draws and suffering just the single defeat.

The Portuguese has found the back of the net on five occasions against the Toffees in all competitions, in addition to providing three assists.

Twelve of his appearances against Everton came during his first spell at Man United, while he featured off the bench in the 1-1 draw between the two sides at Old Trafford earlier this season.

Indeed, Ronaldo was surprisingly rested from the start of the clash before appearing in the 57th minute, but he could not help his team overcome the Toffees, who levelled through Andros Townsend after Anthony Martial had broken the deadlock just before the half-time break.

Four of Ronaldo's goals against Everton have come in the Premier League and arguably his best performance against the club came during the 2007-08 season, when he scored a brace in a 2-1 success at Old Trafford.

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster actually failed to register against the Toffees at Goodison Park in the league during his first spell with the 20-time English champions, but he netted against them away from home in the fifth round of the FA Cup in 2004-05, as Sir Alex Ferguson's side won 2-0.

Each of Ronaldo's four Premier League strikes against the Merseyside team have come at Old Trafford, so he will be looking to create some more personal history at Goodison Park in Saturday's early start.

The Portuguese's only defeat against the Toffees came at Goodison Park during the 2004-05 campaign, while his last victory at the famous stadium came in September 2007, when Nemanja Vidic's header proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Man United will be hoping that the veteran can inspire them to all three points this weekend, with the Red Devils chasing down fourth position in the Premier League table.
