Jose Mourinho's record vs. Man United
Games: 25
Won: 10
Drawn: 10
Lost: 5
Jose Mourinho has managed six different clubs against Manchester United in his career, taking charge of Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and most recently Fenerbahce.
Since and including his first-ever meeting with Porto back in February 2004 (a 2-1 last-16 first-leg win in the Champions League), Mourinho has faced Man United a total of 25 times as a manager; only against Liverpool (31) and Barcelona (27) has he faced a team on more occasions in his career.
Mourinho has celebrated a total of 10 victories against Man United, while he has also drawn nine matches and lost five in all competitions, with his teams scoring 32 goals and conceding 23 in the process. At Old Trafford, the Portuguese has won four, drawn four and lost three of his 11 visits as an opposing manager.
During his time at Porto, Mourinho only faced Man United twice in 2004, securing a memorable 3-2 aggregate victory in the Champions League last 16, including a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford en route to winning the competition for the first time in his managerial career and for the second time in Porto's history.
The Portuguese then spent three years in charge of Chelsea during his first spell at Stamford Bridge and registered five wins, three draws and two defeats. Chelsea won an EFL semi-final on aggregate (2-1) in 2005, picked up 11 points in six Premier League meetings and won the 2007 FA Cup final against Man United under Mourinho, but they did lose 4-1 in the 2007 Community Shield.
Mourinho went on to manage Inter Milan and Real Madrid and squared off against Man United twice with both clubs in the last 16 of the Champions League. With Inter, Mourinho suffered a 2-0 aggregate defeat, including a 2-0 second-leg loss at Old Trafford in 2009, but he triumphed with Real Madrid at the same stage four years later, winning 3-2 on aggregate including a 2-1 second-leg win at the Theatre of Dreams.
After three seasons at Real Madrid, Mourinho returned to England to manage Chelsea for a second spell in 2013 and he faced Man United four times in the Premier League across two seasons, registering two home wins and two away draws. Mourinho would go on to take the reins at Man United in May 2016 and won 58.3% of his 144 games in charge before being sacked in December 2018.
The Portuguese resumed his career in England with Tottenham Hotspur and took charge of four Premier League games against Man United; his solitary triumph in October 2020 was certainly a memorable one, as he steered Spurs to a thumping 6-1 victory in his most recent visit to Old Trafford.
Mourinho's most recent encounter with Man United was in charge of Fenerbahce in October 2024 when his side came from behind to draw 1-1 on Turkish spoil in the Europa League.
