Sports Mole takes on musician Tom Speight for a Premier League predictions challenge in gameweek two of the 2023-24 season.

Gameweek two of the new Premier League season contains an early top-of-the-table battle as week-one front-runners Newcastle United take on champions and current third-placed Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

That is one of two blockbuster clashes on Saturday evening, with Tottenham Hotspur also hosting Manchester United, while Liverpool entertain Bournemouth on a bumper second Saturday of the 2023-24 campaign.

Sunday brings a London derby between West Ham United and Chelsea, while there is another capital contest on Monday night as Arsenal travel to Crystal Palace.

There will only be nine games this weekend due to Luton Town's match with Burnley being postponed because their ground is not ready yet for the top flight, but the other promoted team - Sheffield United - help kick things off on Friday night against Nottingham Forest.

Each gameweek, Sports Mole is taking on a famous musician or band in a prediction competition, and this week it is the turn of singer-songwriter - and Liverpool fan - Tom Speight.

Tom Speight Q&A

Tom Speight© Shoot Music

How did you come to support Liverpool and what are your favourite memories from your time as a fan?

"I first started supporting Liverpool when I was eight years old during the 'Spice Boys-era'. My dad got me the kit and left me no choice. Personally, my favourite memory is 100% when I got to meet Robbie Fowler in person."

Who have been your favourite five players for your club (historically or currently)?

"John Barnes is my all time favourite! But I also love Steven Gerrard, Fowler, Mohamed Salah and Ian Rush."

What's going on for you as an artist at the moment?

"My album 'Love & Light' us out. It should hopefully be able to soundtrack the most joyous of victories and hard times. It's got a bit of everything on it. I can't wait to tour it in September/October."

Tom Speight's new song 'Trick Of The Light' is available to stream now.
