Premier League gameweek 30: Confirmed team news and manager quotes for every club

Sports Mole rounds up every Premier League club's confirmed team news ahead of gameweek 30, and what their managers have had to say about their injury situations.

ARSENAL

Gameweek 30 opponents: Man City (A)

Out: Jurrien Timber (knee)

Doubtful: Gabriel Martinelli (foot), Gabriel Magalhaes (Achilles), Bukayo Saka (hamstring)

Mikel Arteta quotes: "There's a chance to see Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel playing against Man City, yeah. They have not trained yet, tomorrow we have another session, but there is a chance they can be part of the squad."

ASTON VILLA

Gameweek 30 opponents: Wolves (H)

Out: Emiliano Buendia (knee), Tyrone Mings (knee), Boubacar Kamara (knee), John McGinn (suspended), Matty Cash (hamstring)

Doubtful: Jacob Ramsey (foot)

Unai Emery quotes: "[Cash] came back [from international duty] with a small injury and he is not available for tomorrow. He will be out for two or three weeks."

BOURNEMOUTH

Bournemouth's Marcos Senesi walks off the pitch after sustaining an injury on March 3, 2024© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Everton (H)

Out: Ryan Fredericks (calf), Luis Sinisterra (thigh), James Hill (ankle), Marcos Senesi (thigh)

Doubtful: Max Aarons (thigh), Lloyd Kelly (hip)

Andoni Iraola quotes: "We have no issues with Dom, it's a good moment for him personally. We have given him a bit of rest and time to recover and he has been doing very well this week. I 100% expect him to be involved.

"Lloyd Kelly has started training with the group this week. It's difficult for me to say [if he will face Everton], if we have a place in the squad then he probably has a chance, but I think it depends on other situations.

"Marcos [Senesi] continues to be out, he's unable to train with the group still. Max Aarons is back with the group, Ryan Fredericks is out. Luis Sinisterra is out for some weeks, but I think he will be available before the end of the season.

"Then we have to check the ones who are right who arrive back from internationals, we need to tomorrow and see how they are."

BRENTFORD

Brentford's Christian Norgaard leaves the pitch after sustaining an injury on January 5, 2024© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Man Utd (H)

Out: Joshua Dasilva (knee), Rico Henry (knee), Ben Mee (ankle), Kevin Schade (adductor), Christian Norgaard (back), Sergio Reguilon (suspended)

Doubtful: Ethan Pinnock (ankle), Aaron Hickey (hamstring), Bryan Mbeumo (ankle)

Club statement: Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has provided an update on injured trio Aaron Hickey, Christian Norgaard and Ethan Pinnock ahead of Saturday's late game against Man Utd.

Frank revealed that Hickey (hamstring) is "further down the line" although captain Norgaard is progressing well as he recovers from a back injury but will not feature at the weekend. Pinnock, who has missed seven weeks with an ankle injury, is also "going in the right direction" but will miss Saturday's match.

Kevin Schade has been training with the first-team group for the last two weeks after an adductor issue, but the Man Utd match will come too soon.

"Bryan [Mbeumo], of course, is further down the line and that's very, very good. He has two more weeks under his belt and played in an in-house game on Thursday."

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION

Gameweek 30 opponents: Liverpool (A)

Out: Solly March (knee), Kaoru Mitoma (back), Jack Hinshelwood (foot)

Doubtful: Joao Pedro (thigh), James Milner (thigh)

BURNLEY

Gameweek 30 opponents: Chelsea (A)

Out: Aaron Ramsey (knee), Nathan Redmond (thigh), Luca Koleosho (thigh), David Datro Fofana (ineligible)

Doubtful: Jordan Beyer (thigh), Ameen Al-Dakhil (unspecified)

Vincent Kompany quotes: "It is of that (cup final) importance, but I have to say for us the feeling has been like this already for a while. The Chelsea game you're playing against a top team but its not a luxury game for us, they're all-important games in terms of getting points from it.

"We saw the feeling that it gives you when you do achieve it. The West Ham game was unfortunate but in terms of where we're at at the moment, we hope that we can keep getting results and building on from the last win.

"In tough times we've always remained strong, we've always kept a belief. So, all of a sudden when you have a win, I hope that kind of encourages that. We're not really a team that's too phased, we're not a rollercoaster team, I don't think.

"At least not emotionally. So, I feel pretty confident that win or lose, we're always able to get back on track but it's about winning at the moment and it's the same again this weekend."

CHELSEA

Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku on December 19, 2023© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Burnley (H)

Out: Wesley Fofana (knee), Romeo Lavia (thigh), Reece James (hamstring), Carney Chukwuemeka (ankle), Christopher Nkunku (hamstring), Levi Colwill (foot), Trevoh Chalobah (unspecified), Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring), Robert Sanchez (unspecified)

Doubtful: Malo Gusto (ill), Ben Chilwell (knee), Enzo Fernandez (fatigue)

Mauricio Pochettino quotes: "Still we need to assess a few players like [Ben] Chilwell. He got a knock in his knee. [On Thursday] he was all right to train and now we will see what happens [on Friday], if he can be available to be in the squad or not. It's bad luck because he got a dead leg in the last moment of the game against Belgium. Now we need to assess if he can be available or not.

"I was talking with Cole [Palmer]. He's a little bit disappointed because he could not play and perform with the national team. The first game was with a small problem. I think he thought he could maybe play the second game against Belgium but didn't play.

"Now he's okay, he was training well. There's still one training session more [today] but the plan is, if he can train in the same way [today], he will be available for the game on Saturday.

"It's a really difficult situation for [Lavia] and of course he's sad, he's not happy. He's only played 30 minutes, for a player who arrived new in the club. It's something that sometimes happens in football. When the club signed him he arrived with problems from Southampton. Now it's a different problem than the one he had from Southampton.

"In nine months he was only with us training for a few weeks. He arrived and he could not train and then when he started to train with us he suffered an injury to his foot. After he was training with us again for a few weeks, he was available at Wolves but didn't come on and then against Crystal Palace he played 30 minutes and got injured in his quad. From December we haven't had the possibility to train with him, because he was never really close to being available.

"It's really sad news because always a new player when he arrives at a club wants to perform, wants to help the team. Now we need to wait for the next pre-season and the next season for him to be available again. For sure we are going to help him to become stronger and be available for pre-season and then next season to show his real quality."

CRYSTAL PALACE

Crystal Palace's Sam Johnstone on November 4, 2023© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Nott'm Forest (A)

Out: Sam Johnstone (elbow), Cheick Doucoure (Achilles), Rob Holding (ankle), Marc Guehi (knee), Michael Olise (thigh)

Doubtful: Matheus Franca (groin), Jeffrey Schlupp (thigh), Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (thigh)

Oliver Glasner quotes: "It's good news [on Olise], but he's not in the squad [for Nottingham Forest]. He did many parts of training this week – not all the parts – and he's on the way back, but the Nottingham game is too early, the Bournemouth game [on Tuesday] is too early, then we will see in the next days.

"Of course, Michael showed in the sessions that he's a brilliant player, but the focus is on all the other players tomorrow because I don't look too far in the future. It's important [to focus on] the Nottingham game, and Michael won't play, so the focus and concentration is on all the other players.

"The only injury we had and are suffering is Sam Johnstone with the English national team. He had surgery on his elbow and he will be out until the end of the season. It's very tough for him and also tough for us, but with Dean Henderson, we have a great goalkeeper. He's now the No. 1 and we fully trust him.

"[Johnstone] is of course disappointed, but he's now starting the rehab process, and he has all our support that he will be back as fast as possible. This injury takes several months. Yes it's tough, but he's a great sportsman and he has all our support.

"I saw the video [of his injury] and very often it doesn't look really bad, but the outcome was bad. It was a shot and I don't know how often you have it in a career as a goalkeeper, 1000 times? And once it has a bad consequence, and this was the time – but nobody's to blame.

"Jeffrey Schlupp is back after his injury. It's the first game after many weeks and the group is getting bigger and bigger and that gives us more options, and it's very important for us that the players come back from injuries. The fit players tomorrow are more important for tomorrow for winning the game at Nottingham.

"Daniel [Munoz] is alright – just a small issue [when with Colombia], but nothing serious, so he will be with us tomorrow.

"[Marc Guehi] is working very hard. I see him every day here, and also our medical team is working very hard with him. I don't know how long it will take but I think, I believe and I trust he will have several minutes this season.

"The same [with Cheick Doucouré]. I'm not a doctor so I don't know exactly, but all the players are working really hard with our team. They have all the support, so there may be some minutes, but maybe Cheick is the one who will come back latest from all the injuries."

EVERTON

Everton manager Sean Dyche on November 26, 2023© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Bournemouth (A)

Out: Dele Alli (groin), Arnaut Danjuma (ankle), Lewis Dobbin (ankle)

Doubtful: None

Sean Dyche quotes: "Idrissa [Gana Gueye] played [for Senegal], there was a lot of travelling involved so he's had a quieter day [on Thursday] but he's fit.

"Arnie [Danjuma] is only just back out on the grass with us. He's been on the grass with the medical side and the sports science side getting fit and making sure he's well but literally his first training session was with us - as a group - today. So, therefore, he's going to need a bit of time to make sure he's right.

"Seamus is a valuable member of the club, let alone the squad - what he stands for, he's been exceptional and he still is. To get those games [for the Republic of Ireland] under his belt is very pleasing because the hardest thing when you're coming out of an injury is to get game time. He's never out of contention as long as he's fit, obviously, and he is fit."

FULHAM

Out: None

Doubtful: None

Club statement: "While some returning international players continue to be assessed, Marco Silva will hopefully have a fully fit squad to select from."

LIVERPOOL

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker goes down injured on November 25, 2023© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Brighton (H)

Out: Joel Matip (knee), Alisson Becker (hamstring), Stefan Bajcetic (calf), Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee), Diogo Jota (knee), Thiago Alcantara (thigh)

Doubtful: Curtis Jones (ankle), Darwin Nunez (hamstring), Andrew Robertson (ankle)

Jurgen Klopp quotes: "I am not sure if Curtis [Jones] is available but he is in training. Ibrahima Konate [missing training] was an extra rest day, nothing else.

"Andrew Robertson, we will take it day by day. He won't train today but it's not as bad, so that's fine.

"The other boys from next week on are step by step. We will see what we do with that. They aren't too far away, but they're not in yet. None are close to team training but they are all making their steps. It's a positive.

"Darwin Nunez is fine. He did his rehab during the week, trained first day partially, and since then he is in full training.

"Football-brain wise, [Bajcetic] is a natural, so he hasn't lost anything. But rhythm is something else. He is now in partial training with the Under-21s and will be in full training with the U21s next week because we will not really train because we are playing all the time. After that he will join our training. Then we will see. He has put a few muscles on and looks good.

"Conor Bradley didn't need long after he was out for a long time as well. [Bajcetic] is a smart kid and I think will be fine. I forgot he'd played for us early in the season and [then] everything went the wrong way but now he's nearly back. I am happy for him and for us."

LUTON TOWN

Gameweek 30 opponents: Spurs (A)

Out: Tom Lockyer (heart issue), Amari'i Bell (hamstring), Marvelous Nakamba (knee), Elijah Adebayo (thigh), Albert Sambi Lokonga (thigh), Dan Potts (hamstring), Mads Anderson (calf), Chiedozie Ogbene (hamstring), Jacob Brown (knee)

Doubtful: Gabriel Osho (knee), Joe Johnson (ill), Alfie Doughty (thigh), Pelly Mpanzu (ankle)

Club statement: Winger Chiedozie Ogbene is out after suffering a hamstring injury on international duty with the Republic of Ireland and is likely to be sideline "for a few weeks" according to manager Rob Edwards.

Sambi Lokonga is back in "light training" but will be unavailable for a few more weeks although Edwards is hoping forward Elijah Adebayo could return "for the tail end of the season."

Alfie Doughty and Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu have trained this week and are available for selection if they get through the today's training session.

Mads Andersen is still out after suffering a setback, while Gabe Osho's bruising on his knee is being monitored on a day-to-day basis.

MANCHESTER CITY

England's John Stones walks off the pitch after sustaining an injury on March 26, 2024© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Arsenal (H)

Out: Kyle Walker (hamstring), John Stones (groin)

Doubtful: Kevin De Bruyne (groin), Ederson (leg), Matheus Nunes (foot), Manuel Akanji (knock)

Pep Guardiola quotes: "Injuries. Ederson is much, much better. Kyle and John are out. It is what it is.

"The season was not perfect for [Grealish], but he still has the time to prepare and is fit. He hasn't played for a long time but it's a decision to make tomorrow.

"Akanji is ok [to play against Arsenal]."

MANCHESTER UNITED

Manchester United's Luke Shaw walks off the pitch to be substituted due to injury on February 18, 2024© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Brentford (A)

Out: Luke Shaw (thigh), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Anthony Martial (groin), Amad Diallo (suspended), Altay Bayindir (muscle)

Doubtful: Lisandro Martinez (knee), Jonny Evans (thigh), Casemiro (muscle), Harry Maguire (knock)

Erik ten Hag quotes: "There is a chance [Lisandro Martinez will be back in squad]. We have missed him every game because he brings a composure in the team, a calmness in the team. At the same time, a winning attitude and he can express this very clearly. He can transfer that into the team and that contributes a lot to our levels."

"I expect Luke Shaw to play again for us this season, that's the plan. He is still on schedule and will return to our team."

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Newcastle United's Nick Pope is substituted after sustaining an injury on December 2, 2023© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: West Ham (H)

Out: Sandro Tonali (suspended), Sven Botman (knee), Lewis Miley (back), Callum Wilson (chest), Joelinton (thigh), Nick Pope (shoulder)

Doubtful: Kieran Trippier (calf), Harvey Barnes (thigh), Valentino Livramento (ankle)

Eddie Howe quotes: On Botman: "It's a big blow. It's quite a complex story about Sven this season since he got his knee injury. He initially had a partial ACL tear, we sought specialist opinion on that injury and had conflicting reports on what he should do next.

"Our medical team advised him to get surgery, he wanted to continue playing. We try to guide the players, but it's their bodies and they have to make the final decision.

"Unfortunately he's succumbed to the injury eventually, but I've seen a lot of players come back and carry on playing and stay fit. It's a delicate issue, there's a long period of rehab for him ahead but we wish him well and hope he comes back in a good place.

"The medical team of course advised Sven, and that's all they can do. But the player felt his knee was good and strong. He felt confident in it, he did a lot of work to get back, sought specialist opinion, and that was how it went.

"As always in these situations, I wish we had the benefit of hindsight but we don't. The operation's gone well, there is no other damage to the knee, and hopefully he'll be back pretty quickly.

"He is a guy who lives for football so he'll have to deal with the emotions of having that taken away from him. He's such a big player and was doing so well for us, and now we support him and help him back.

"It's difficult to answer for Sven but I think his decision was related to how good the knee felt. He said it felt strong and stable, had no swelling, so from his perspective I can put myself in his shoes.

"He felt the knee was good, then if someone says you might need an operation, you'd be out for nine months, but you're not feeling it yourself, it's difficult to commit to surgery.

"It's happened, we just have to deal with the situation he's in. We're going to miss him for a huge amount of time, it's a big blow - there's no denying that.

On Lewis Miley: "We're seeking specialist opinion on Lewis Miley. He came back with a back problem, it's slightly unclear what the injury is."

On Harvey Barnes and Kieran Trippier: "Possibly, we'll have to wait and see."

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Gameweek 30 opponents: Crystal Palace (H)

Out: Taiwo Awoniyi (unspecified), Gonzalo Montiel (hamstring), Willy Boly (muscle)

Doubtful: Ola Aina (muscle), Nuno Tavares (thigh)

SHEFFIELD UNITED

Sheffield United's Chris Basham receives medical attention before being taken off on a stretcher on October 7, 2023© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Fulham (H)

Out: Max Lowe (ankle), Rhys Norrington-Davies (hamstring), Chris Basham (foot), John Egan (ankle), Rhian Brewster (hamstring), Daniel Jebbison (ill)

Doubtful: Cameron Archer (calf), Anis Ben Slimane (thigh), George Baldock (calf)

Chris Wilder quotes: "[George Baldock] came off [for Greece on Tuesday] with a calf injury. We've assessed him and it's going to be touch and go. There's no getting away from that. Hopefully he will be but I don't think it's as bad as first feared and hopefully that'll be kept down to a minimum.

"Cameron [Archer] is a nearly, and Anis [Slimane] is a nearly as well. So those were the main two we thought would be back available for us. I'm not going to give anything away because no-one gives anything to us but they won't be a million miles off. The rest of the international boys had no issues, so we're delighted with that."

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Ven walks off the pitch after sustaining an injury on March 10, 2024© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Luton (H)

Out: Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Fraser Forster (foot), Manor Solomon (knee)

Doubtful: Micky van de Ven (hamstring), Richarlison (knee)

Ange Postecoglou quotes: "Everyone got through internationals ok, which was important for us. They've all come back and trained today. In terms of injuries, Micky [van de Ven] has trained the last couple of days, he feels good so he's available.

"[Richarlison] has had a knee niggle that we've been managing and Brazil managed him, but he trained today and feels good."

WEST HAM UNITED

West Ham United manager David Moyes pictured on March 10, 2024© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Newcastle (A)

Out: Edson Alvarez (suspended)

Doubtful: Maxwel Cornet (hamstring), Mohammed Kudus (knee), Nayef Aguerd (fatigue), Lucas Paqueta (fatigue)

David Moyes quotes: "Overall, we're pretty much fine, but we've just got questions marks over Nayef [Aguerd] and Lucas [Paqueta]. They've only recently returned, and we're just keeping an eye on them to see how they are.

"Maxi is back training. He's been back out there for a few days, so he's certainly in and around it. I don't know if he's fully match fit or quite ready yet, but he's getting there and it's good to have him with us."

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Pedro Neto is stretchered off after sustaining an injury on October 28, 2023© Reuters

Gameweek 30 opponents: Aston Villa (A)

Out: Pedro Neto (hamstring), Hwang Hee-chan (thigh), Craig Dawson (groin), Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (knee)

Doubtful: Matheus Cunha (thigh)

Gary O'Neil quotes: "[Hwang Hee-chan] may be able to push ahead of [an estimated three weeks out]. He's on the grass and working hard. He's not too far away, hopefully he can shave a bit off that three weeks.

"I think [Pedro Neto] will be back in around the end of the season, it may be a few weeks before. He has a big summer with the Euros that he's keen to get back for. We won't let the fixture list dictate when he's back. He's working very hard and is keen to get back as quickly as possible.

"[Dawson and Bellegarde] aren't back with the group yet. Their injuries aren't clear ones, where you get a clear time frame. Craig is doing better, hopefully he'll be back with the group next week for training. We're waiting for Bellegarde's knee to settle before we push him on. We were hoping it would settle quicker than it has. There's no real time frame on him yet."
