Manchester United manager David Moyes charged with misconduct by FA

Manchester United manager David Moyes is charged with misconduct by the FA for the comments he made after his side lost to Sunderland in the Capital One Cup semi-final.

The Football Association have confirmed that Manchester United manager David Moyes has been charged with misconduct for the comments he made after his side's defeat to Sunderland.

English football's governing body opened an investigation this week after Moyes claimed that his team are "having to play the opposition and the officials".

The Scotsman made the remarks after witnessing his side suffer a third defeat in a row in the form of a 2-1 loss to the Black Cats in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday.

The former Everton manager's criticism of referee Andre Marriner has caused the FA to charge the 50-year-old, stating that the "alleged the comments called into question the integrity of the match officials".

Moyes has until 6pm on January 15 to respond to the charge.
