Ecuador's Antonio Valencia has said "sorry" following his red card during England's friendly in Miami.
The Manchester United winger was sent off after a clash with Raheem Sterling that saw Valencia raise his hands.
He told reporters: "I apologised to the team after the match and the coach.
"I am sorry for the fight with Sterling. When he tackled me I thought about Segundo Castillo."
Sterling was grabbed by the neck in relation to the bad tackle that also saw the Liverpool man dismissed 11 minutes from time.
Ecuador's Castillo nearly missed out on the World Cup due to a knee injury sustained against Mexico.
