Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger impressed by Manchester United's Marcus Rashford

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says that he was impressed by Marcus Rashford after he scored twice on his Manchester United debut in the Europa League.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he was impressed by Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford after he scored twice on his senior debut.

The 18-year-old was called on shortly before kickoff in United's crucial Europa League last-32 second leg against FC Midtjylland on Thursday because Anthony Martial pulled up with a hamstring injury in the warm-up at Old Trafford.

It was a nervy start to the game as the Danish side took a 1-0 lead, but Rashford's brace contributed to a 5-1 victory for United on the night.

The youngster could start against Arsenal on Sunday should Martial be ruled out of the showdown at Old Trafford.

"I watched [Rashford] last night and he was quite impressive," Wenger said in Friday's press conference. "Rashford I didn't know but all the other players I knew. For us it's quite simple to prepare. We need to prepare on our side for a strong performance."

Arsenal currently sit third in the Premier League table, 10 points above fifth-placed Manchester United.
