Barca chief: Premier League should cut to 16 teams

Barcelona president Sandro Rossell believes that the Premier League should be reduced from a 20 to a 16-team league.

Rossell, who is the vice-president of the European Club Association, also wants to play European games at the weekend.

"We have to convince the Premier League to reduce to 16 [teams]," he said.

"We could perhaps play Barcelona versus Manchester United on Saturdays."

Barcelona have won five trophies since 47-year-old Rossell joined in July 2010.
