Jamie Carragher: 'David Moyes sacking was inevitable'

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that David Moyes's sacking as Manchester United manager was "inevitable" following a poor first season in charge.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed David Moyes's sacking as Manchester United manager was "inevitable" after a dismal season in charge.

The 50-year-old has been dismissed after just 10 months at Old Trafford, with the club sitting 23 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Carragher believes that Moyes will be back in management soon, despite his disappointing stint with United.

"It was always going to be difficult but it hasn't gone well - it has been disastrous season. It was inevitable," Carragher told Sky Sports News.

"David Moyes as a manager - these seven months have been terrible, but he did a great job at Everton and Preston. He will come back as a manager."

United have appointed midfielder Ryan Giggs as interim manager until the end of the season.
