Tom Cleverley "hungry" for title success

Tom Cleverley says that winning the Premier League with Manchester United will make up for his injury hell.

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has claimed that winning the Premier League title with the Red Devils would be the "proudest" day of his life.

The 22-year-old has had a mixed season with the English champions due to a lengthy ankle injury suffered in September.

Despite Cleverley's disappointment, the England international believes that pipping arch rivals Manchester City to the title will make up for his injury woes.

"They are two great squads and it will go down to the wire," said Cleverley. "We have that brilliant mixture of youth, who are hungry to win their first major competition, and experience.

"Personally, winning the title would make up for the injuries and all the games I have missed this season. It would be the proudest day of my life. It would make up for everything, even that 6-1 derby defeat at home last October. I was injured for that game but I was at the stadium.

"I haven't even thought about us not winning the title. The rivalry is massive anyway but has intensified because we are both going for the league."

Man United take on Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday, while Man City host Bolton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow.
