Manchester United's Tom Cleverley: "It was very tough"

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has admitted that their pre-season clash with Yokohama F Marinos in Japan "was very tough".

The Premier League champions were defeated 3-2 by the Japanese outfit on Tuesday, but the England international insists that it was "a good workout".

"It was very tough. I don't want to make excuses, but we travelled a long way yesterday. I am sure we can play better. It is a good workout for us," Cleverley told MUTV.

"We couldn't get a much better workout than that, we were running for 90 minutes. However, we would like to improve on our technical part of the game."

Next up for United is a clash with Cerezo Osaka on Friday.
