Former Netherlands international Edgar Davids has backed Jose Mourinho to bring success to Manchester United in the short term.
The 53-year-old was finally confirmed as the new United boss earlier today after months of speculation and days of negotiations, signing a three-year deal at Old Trafford.
Davids does not believe that Mourinho will be at the club for the long haul, but backed the former Chelsea boss to bring silverware to the Red Devils.
"What Manchester United have is a winning mentality," he told BBC Sport.
"They want to win trophies - that is what they are definitely aiming at because if you're talking about attacking play, that's not the style of Mourinho. But short-term, definitely Mourinho is your man."
Davids also believes that out-of-contract striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have a major influence on the team and the Premier League should he complete a move to Old Trafford.
"If Zlatan goes to Man United it will be a massive impact on the league and the fans. He will definitely add some spice," he added.
Mourinho's first match in charge of United will come on July 22 when they face Borussia Dortmund in the International Champions Cup.
