The FA receives Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's explanation of his comments following Sunday's draw at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Football Association has received Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's explanation of his comments following Sunday's draw at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Scot criticised fourth official Simon Beck for not awarding his side a penalty when Wayne Rooney appeared to have been brought down by Stephen Caulker at White Hart Lane.

United were leading the Premier League fixture 1-0 at the time before Clint Dempsey scored a late equaliser for Tottenham.

The 71-year-old had until 6pm on Thursday night to submit the reasons behind his comments.

The FA will decide by Tuesday evening whether they will charge Ferguson.
