Rio Ferdinand is looking forward to playing alongside new signing Shinji Kagawa.

Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has tipped Shinji Kagawa to bring his Borussia Dortmund form to the Premier League.

Kagawa, United's major signing so far this summer, impressed in the Bundesliga and Ferdinand has revealed that he is "excited" at the prospect of playing in the same team as the 23-year-old.

"He's been fantastic. He's quick, he's sharp, he has great awareness, he plays off both feet," Ferdinand said. "I'm excited about playing with him and getting the season started.

"He's been one of the better players in Germany for the last few years. I think he will bring that form to Manchester United. I think he'll be a great acquisition."

Kagawa made his full debut in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Ajax Cape Town.
