Rio Ferdinand not seeking conviction for coin throwing incident

Ferdinand not seeking conviction

Police have confirmed that Rio Ferdinand will not be pressing charges after being hit with a coin during last month's Manchester derby.

The Manchester United defender was left with a cut above his eye during his team's win over Manchester City on December 9.

Greater Manchester Police have been investigating the incident, but have yet to identify the culprit.

Yesterday, 21-year-old Manchester City fan Matthew Stott was banned from games for three years for confronting Ferdinand on the pitch during the same match.
