Sir Alex Ferguson says he has faith in his midfield options for the title run-in.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes that his "great collection of midfield players" can cope with the title run-in.

Reports in the media have suggested that the Red Devils' central midfield area is a cause for concern that needs to be addressed soon.

However, Ferguson has been quick to dismiss the idea of a big name signing, adding only Paul Scholes – who came out of retirement – in the transfer window. The Scot believes that his current midfield options can handle the pressure come the business end of the season.

"We have a great collection of midfield players," said the 70-year-old manager.

"We've got Anderson, Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick – who has been fantastic – plus Scholes and Cleverley.

"That group should cope with anything that happens in the run-in."

Scholes, Carrick and Giggs all featured in the FA Cup fourth-round 2-1 loss to Liverpool.
