Ajax boss Frank de Boer has claimed that compatriot Louis van Gaal must be given time to succeed as manager of Manchester United.
The Dutchman led United back into the Champions League in his first campaign at the helm last season, and currently has them third in the Premier League table with eight games played this term.
De Boer, who played under Van Gaal for Ajax and the Netherlands, has stated that the 64-year-old's methods are proven at the highest level.
"I think he is managing very well, always protecting his players and wanting them to always give 100%," De Boer told Omnisport.
"If they do that I think he is one of the best trainers in the world. I think he also learned a lot in the last couple of years about what he has to do if he is in a foreign country.
"He will get what he wants if he gets time and everybody believes his philosophy."
United travel to Everton on Saturday.
