Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville slams the Glazers over their alleged conduct when it comes to a potential sale of the club.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has slammed the Glazers over their alleged conduct when it comes to a potential sale of the 20-time English champions.

The bidding process has reportedly entered a third round, with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe still regarded as the favourites to buy the club from its American owners.

Fresh bids for the club will therefore be due before the end of the month, suggesting that the Glazer family are not prepared to accept the offers that are currently on the table.

The bids from Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe are thought to be worth in the region of £5bn, but there are claims that the club's owners want as much as £6bn in order to fully sell the Red Devils.

Neville has said that taking the takeover process to a third round of bidding "is just classless", with the club's former captain hitting out at the "shoddy" conduct.

"They're making it up as they go along! Shoddy way to run a sale process. They need to get out by end of May to allow the new owner a fighting chance to impact the next transfer window and get moving!" Neville tweeted on Tuesday night.

"Taking it to a 3rd round is just classless. The market has obviously not given them the answer they want! It's like they've made a pact to each other that they won't go for less than £1bn each family member. (5 of them). If they stay in after all this it will be toxic!

"If they don't sell they will have to bring investors in. They can't afford to run in themselves now with the amount owed and capital required to upgrade the facilities."

However, in response to a question on Twitter, Neville did claim that he is expecting the Glazers to ultimately sell the club, as the situation could become "unbearable".

"No I think they will go eventually as it will be unbearable for them. If they do somehow think they can stay in then any new investor that comes in with them as partners need to think seriously about their brand damage," wrote the pundit.

Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus has also said that he is in the running to purchase the club from the Glazers, but Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe remain in pole position.

Any sale is expected to go through before the end of May, as the club's proposed new owners would want to have a plan in place for the summer transfer window, which officially opens in June.
