Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs believes that Robin van Persie has lived up to the hype since joining the Red Devils this summer.

Ryan Giggs has admitted that Robin van Persie has managed to exceed his lofty expectations since joining Manchester United this summer.

Van Persie has racked up 13 goals since arriving at Old Trafford from Arsenal, including a stoppage-time winner in Sunday's Manchester derby.

Giggs believes that the Dutchman is enhancing his reputation with each performance in a United shirt.

He told The Sun: "Robin has not surprised me because at 29 I knew he was a ready-made, experienced, world-class player.

"But he just has that bit of class that can make a difference, like it did on Sunday.

"You see it in training, you see it in games, he's just a brilliant player."

Sir Alex Ferguson's side are six points clear at the top of the Premier League after edging closest rivals Manchester City last weekend.
