Manchester United's outgoing chief executive David Gill is appointed unopposed into UEFA's executive committee.

Manchester United's outgoing chief executive David Gill has been elected as a new member of the UEFA executive committee.

The 55-year-old was handed his place on the board following the withdrawal of Portugal's Fernando Gomes.

Gill, who will leave his post at United on June 30, has been elected to the committee with seven other candidates on the day that the governing body assembled for the UEFA Congress in London.

Gill, who will remain a director at Old Trafford, has previously been part of UEFA's Professional Football Strategy Council and the Club Competitions Committee.
