Manchester United's latest recruit Ander Herrera has revealed that the presence of manager Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford influenced his decision to join the club.
The former Athletic Bilbao midfielder sealed a £29m switch to the Red Devils earlier today, signing a four-year deal with the Premier League giants.
Herrera cites an opportunity to work with "one of the best managers in the world" as a contributing factor in his move.
"Louis van Gaal is one of the best managers in the world," Herrera told MUTV. "I want to learn a lot of things and I can't wait to play for Manchester United."
Van Gaal will begin his United career upon returning from the World Cup with the Netherlands.
It has been reported that the Dutchman has sought to follow up Herrera's capture by accelerating the club's pursuit of Southampton's Luke Shaw, as reports on Thursday claimed that both parties have struck a £30m deal for the 18-year-old defender.
