Phil Jones: 'Competition for places healthy'

Phil Jones believes that competition for places is "healthy" as Manchester United look to strengthen their squad this summer.

Phil Jones has insisted that he has no issue with fighting for a starting place at Manchester United.

United have been linked with Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, as the club look to strengthen further having already signed Matteo Darmian, Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Jones, 23, believes that competition would only help the squad push for the Premier League title this coming season.

He told reporters: "It's healthy, it's good for players If one person is doing well it makes the other person do well and that is exactly what you need - especially at Manchester United.

"I am just going to try to do my best and hopefully that will be good enough to cement a starting place."

Jones was speaking after United's 1-0 win over Club America on their pre-season tour of the United States.
