Manchester United defender Phil Jones could be back in action against Wigan on Boxing Day, quelling fears that he could miss two months of the season.
The 19-year-old needed an X-ray on a suspected fractured cheekbone after clashing with Fulham's Clint Dempsey on Wednesday, but tests have merely revealed soft tissue damage, rather than a fracture.
Jones, therefore, should be fit to face Wigan on Monday, albeit with the addition of a protective mask.
The former Blackburn defender has made 24 appearances for the Red Devils this season.
