Phil Jones has admitted that Manchester United were complacent during their Europa League loss to Ajax at Old Trafford on Thursday evening.
Despite progressing into the last 16 of the competition, United suffered a 2-1 home defeat and scraped through to the next round due to an aggregate score of 3-2 against the Dutch club.
"We got off to a great start, scored and seemed to be in control of the game," Jones said.
"But a little bit of complacency set in. We should have won the game and we will review our performance tomorrow and take it from there.
"The manager said at half time we've got to up the tempo and we didn't do that for whatever reasons. We weren't good enough in the second half, nowhere near."
Sir Alex Ferguson's side will face Atheltic Bilbao in the next round of the competition after the Spanish club overcame Lokomotiv Moscow.
