Liverpool want United 'peace' talks

Liverpool have reportedly approached Manchester United in an attempt to cool proceedings ahead of Luis Suarez's proposed comeback against the champions.

Suarez, who was given an eight-game ban for racial abuse directed towards United defender Patrice Evra, looks certain to return for the league game at Old Trafford in February.

Although the Uruguayan has recently apologised for his involvement, there are genuine fears for the player's safety with emotions still running high.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also said to be concerned ahead of the explosive clash and is willing to all he can to prevent a violent reaction from the club's fans.
