Liverpool's Dejan Lovren is unhappy with Romelu Lukaku's actions during the goalless draw against Manchester United, accusing the striker of deliberately kicking him.

Dejan Lovren has accused Romelu Lukaku of deliberately kicking him during Liverpool's goalless draw with Manchester United at the weekend.

The Belgium international appeared to catch his opponent's face with his boot following a tangle during the latter stages of the first half at Anfield.

Lukaku has since been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Football Association, but Lovren insists that the United striker could have done more to avoid making contact.

"I made a tackle there - I just felt he was over me he could have moved away," he told reporters. "But, to be honest, my honest view was he did it on purpose. Even if he didn't do it [on purpose], he would usually apologise, he was nervous during the game, that was also the reason.

"It happened on the pitch – it's over and nobody can change it now. It's not my decision [to punish him or not], of course. I cannot say I'm disappointed, it is what it is, we need to move on, that's football."

Lukaku had scored in 12 of his 13 matches for club and country this season prior to firing a blank for United in the stalemate on Merseyside.
