Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku welcomes the increased competition for a starting spot following Zlatan Ibrahimovic's recent return to Old Trafford.

Romelu Lukaku has reiterated that he 'does not fear' losing his place in the Manchester United starting lineup following the recent return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Belgium international was brought in during the summer as a direct replacement for Ibrahimovic, who impressed during his maiden campaign at Old Trafford before a long-term injury struck.

Despite potentially being ruled out until the New Year, United were keen to bring the former Paris Saint-Germain ace back on board and offered him a one-year deal last month.

Lukaku has already said that he is relishing the chance to link up with Ibrahimovic, as he believes his new teammate will provide some title-winning qualities in attack.

"Things are going really well for me at United, the pre-season was good and it helped knowing a lot of the players before arriving," he told reporters. "The manager has helped me a lot to settle quickly, so it has all been very positive.

"I am now with a coach that I have wanted to play with for a long time, since I was 11 years of age. And with him we are looking to do something special.

"I said to Zlatan I hoped he would be back. We need his personality. He will bring many qualities to the team, and help us in our goal of winning the title. I don't fear the competition as a striker, or Zlatan."

Lukaku has scored three goals in three Premier League outings for Man United since joining from Everton, while also bagging a hat-trick for Belgium against Gibraltar last Thursday.
