Striker Federico Macheda has insisted that he has been given a "great opportunity" by leaving Manchester United to join Doncaster Rovers on loan.
Macheda was allowed to leave Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order, and the Italian believes that he has made the right decision to move to the Championship outfit.
The 22-year-old told the Doncaster Star: "I had a few offers in the Championship and abroad as well. But I think that the right move for me was to go in the Championship and to a team that was very keen on me and that is why I came here."
"I have waited a long time for this. It is a great opportunity for me. Paul Dickov has been the main reason I have come here, he convinced me of the club's ambition. It is an ambitious club and I am looking forward to playing."
Macheda, who has scored five goals in 36 appearances for United, ended last season on loan at German side Stuttgart.
