Manchester United fans have had their say on Erik ten Hag's future at Old Trafford, with 61% of the supporters wanting to keep the Dutchman this summer.

A final decision from the Red Devils has allegedly now been made, with the club's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, along with his team, deciding to keep Ten Hag as head coach.

The 20-time English champions finished eighth in last season's Premier League table, which represented their worst-ever campaign in the current format.

However, Ten Hag has delivered two trophies in his two seasons at the helm, lifting the EFL Cup in 2022-23 and FA Cup at the end of last term courtesy of a famous 2-1 success over rivals Manchester City.

Sports Mole put the question on Ten Hag's future to the Man United supporters, and 61% of those voted in favour of the 54-year-old keeping hold of his job.

However, 39% voting out is still a fairly sizeable chunk, with the Dutchman seemingly still having a lot of work to do if he is to win over the support of his doubters.

Ten Hag has been in the dark since the FA Cup final, patiently waiting to learn whether he would be keeping hold of his position with the 20-time English champions.

At one stage, it appeared that Thomas Tuchel was the favourite to replace him, with the German available as he prepares to leave Bayern Munich, but the ex-Chelsea head coach is allegedly taking a break from football management.

Mauricio Pochettino has also been linked with the role since his departure from Chelsea, in addition to Graham Potter and Roberto De Zerbi, who are both available this summer.

Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna has been linked with a return to Old Trafford, meanwhile, but it would be a huge risk to place him in charge at this stage of his managerial career.

Gareth Southgate has been strongly linked with the position, with the England head coach thought to have major admirers at Old Trafford, including Ratcliffe.

However, the 53-year-old's full focus is on the upcoming European Championship, and Man United simply could not wait until the end of the tournament before potentially approaching him.

The timing of the interest in Southgate has made the deal almost impossible, and a lack of a suitable alternative to Ten Hag has almost certainly worked in his favour.

The Dutchman has also retained the support of the majority of Man United fans, as demonstrated by the vote, and he will now be preparing for the 2024-25 campaign.

The Red Devils will begin their preparations for next season with a friendly against Rosenborg on July 15, before facing Rangers five days later ahead of their trip to the United States.
