Manchester United could travel to China for 2016 pre-season tour

Manchester United may face a pre-season tour of China in 2016, despite complaints from Louis van Gaal regarding previous lengthy tours.

Manchester United may have to travel to China and neighbouring countries for the club's 2016 pre-season tour due to pressure from sponsors.

According to The Telegraph, Chevrolet and Aon want to make use of Manchester United's commercial power in the Far East despite complaints from Louis van Gaal regarding previous pre-season tours.

The two American companies collectively account for over £75m of the club's annual commercial revenue.

United's pre-season tour of America this summer was a result of Van Gaal's complaints about the length of previous tours.

"We have changed a lot of things in relation to this tour," the manager told reporters.

"The last tour, we were on the other coast with more heat and humidity and that was negative. We have had only two base camps this time, but last year we had to fly with different schedules and time zones each time. We have better training camps this year."

United lost 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the final game of this season's tour in the early hours of Thursday morning.
