Mauricio Pochettino affirms that the Paris Saint-Germain squad are aware of his situation amid persistent links with the Manchester United job.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has affirmed that his players are aware of his situation amid speculation surrounding a possible switch to Manchester United.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss is thought to be the favourite to take over at Old Trafford on a permanent basis following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Pochettino visited Manchester for his side's Champions League battle with Manchester City in midweek, but the Argentine downplayed links with the Man United job before the encounter.

Pochettino affirmed that the PSG squad are aware of the speculation following the 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, telling reporters: "The players know very well our situation.

"We know their situation. We are living in a business that rumours are there, sometimes negative, sometimes positive. That is not a thing to talk about – the rumours."

Les Parisiens took the lead against Man City through Kylian Mbappe but ultimately succumbed to a 2-1 defeat courtesy of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling's efforts at the Etihad.

PSG have booked their spot in the last-16 of the Champions League, though, and Pochettino remains contracted to the club until 2023.
