Manchester United defender Paddy McNair has said that making his debut for Northern Ireland this week would be a "dream come true".

The 19-year-old was forced to pull out of the national squad last October due to injury and was an unused substitute when Northern Ireland lost 2-0 to Romania a month later.

Northern Ireland face Scotland in a friendly on Wednesday before hosting Finland in a Euro 2016 qualifier on Sunday.

"It would be a dream come true if that happens. It would be a very proud day for me and my family," McNair told BBC Sport.

"As a young boy it is a dream to play for your country.

"I went to a few Northern Ireland games when I was very young but I don't remember too much about them. I can remember the atmosphere and hoping that one day I would be out there as well."

McNair has made 15 appearances for Manchester United since breaking into the team this season.
