Rene Meulensteen surprised by Manchester United form

Rene Meulensteen admits that he is shocked by how Manchester United have performed under David Moyes.

Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen has admitted that he is surprised by Manchester United's form this season ahead of his return to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The 49-year-old, who left United in the summer after ending his spell as a coach at the club, believes that their disappointing season isn't down to a lack of quality players.

When asked if he was surprised at how United were performing under David Moyes, Meulensteen replied to reporters: "Yes because they have got good players.

"I know them inside out and I know the players, they have still got world-class players and that is what you're going to be up against.

"Let there be no mistake, they are still a fantastic club with a very, very good team. It is just the fact they aren't firing from all cylinders and they will, it is just a matter of time."

United are currently seventh in the Premier League, 15 points behind leaders Arsenal.
