Jose Mourinho: 'I told Manchester United players to throw shirts into crowd'

Jose Mourinho says that he told his Manchester United players to throw their shirts into the crowd following their win at West Bromwich Albion, because "it's Christmas".

Jose Mourinho has claimed responsibility for the Manchester United players throwing their shirts into the crowd after their 2-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Following the game at The Hawthorns, settled by Zlatan Ibrahimovic's brace, a number of fans in the away end got their hands on the Red Devils players' match-worn tops.

"I told them to do that, [it's] Christmas time," Mourinho told Sky Sports News. "A shirt for a fan, coming direct from the game with sweat, means a lot.

"For them [United players], it is just another shirt that they would give to the kit man, or give to some friend, or they change with some West Bromwich Albion friends. I think to a fan it means a lot.

"It is a pity that not everyone can get one, but, for the ones who get it, I think it is a great feeling."

Next up for United is a home game against Sunderland on December 26.
