Manchester United's Jose Mourinho: 'We have nothing to prove in Liverpool clash'

Mourinho: 'We have nothing to prove'

Jose Mourinho rubbishes suggestions that Manchester United's title credentials could be at stake against Liverpool.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has brushed off suggestions that this Saturday's match against Liverpool at Anfield will test the team's title credentials.

The Red Devils are well-positioned to launch a serious challenge for the Premier League crown as they are unbeaten in seven and are level on points with leaders Manchester City.

Mourinho, though, has played down the hype and insists that he and his team are taking their season game by game.

"This is press talk, or pundit talk: 'We have something to prove, [Romelu] Lukaku has to score, we have to win'. We have to prove nothing," Sky Sports News quotes Mourinho as saying.

"We have our objectives for the season, we know where we want to go and how we have to go. One match, one result, one performance - that's not going to change anything."

The last two league meetings between United and Liverpool have ended in draws.
