Manchester United striker Michael Owen has jumped to the defence of Arsenal winger Theo Walcott following the negative treatment aimed towards him during the North London derby.
The former Southampton star was the subject of abuse from Gunners' supporters until the 22-year-old netted two goals in Arsenal's 5-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.
"Well done Theo Walcott yesterday," Owen wrote on Twitter. "I wonder if those abusing him had the audacity to celebrate his two goals?
"Was good to see Arsenal back in top form. Seems like there has been a lot of negativity around the club for a while."
The Gunners jumped back into fourth place in the Premier League table following their win at the Emirates.
