Carlos Queiroz: 'Sir Alex Ferguson should go to games'

Former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz dismisses suggestions that Sir Alex Ferguson is adding pressure on David Moyes by attending games this season.

Former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has insisted that it is "pure fantasy" to expect Sir Alex Ferguson to not watch United games.

There has been speculation that the presence of Ferguson, who retired as manager last summer, at games has hindered David Moyes's side this season.

However, Queiroz, who won eight trophies in his two spells at Old Trafford, has dismissed those suggestions, insisting that everyone at the club loves to see Ferguson attending the games.

"What do you expect? That Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't watch the games? That is pure, pure fantasy," he told the BBC

"Do you expect that Sir Bobby Charlton doesn't see Manchester United or Carlos Queiroz doesn't see Manchester United? We love the club, we should be there all the time.

"I hope that, given good health, he will be there for years and years to see the club he has been building for his entire life - the club he loves. I'm sure all the coaches, the manager and players love to see him in the stands."

Queiroz is the current coach of the Iran national team.
