Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick says that he will continue to back Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has insisted that he will continue to back Marcus Rashford amid the attacker's struggles.

The England international has found it difficult to make his mark for the Red Devils this season, scoring just five times in 23 appearances, in addition to contributing two assists.

Rashford has not started any of Man United's last three Premier League matches, and the 24-year-old could again be on the bench against Manchester City in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

However, Rangnick has said that he will 'put all of his energy' into helping the Englishman navigate a difficult period to become a leading player for the team once again.

"Now with Edinson [Cavani] at least being available for the upcoming games, we have other options [up front]," Rangnick told reporters. "With Marcus Rashford, we have another player [who I have] continuously been behind and [will work] with, to develop him.

"We have seen that with other players in the past and I don't see why this shouldn't happen with Marcus. He's got abundant talent, he's got the pace, the physicality. He's got everything you need for a modern striker, not only if he is playing from the wing or in the centre.

"I will put all my energy in that to help him to take the same pathway that other players did in the last three months."

Rashford has scored 93 goals and registered 58 assists in 294 appearances for Man United since making his first-team debut for the club in 2015.
