Marcus Rashford says that new Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 'wants the team to be positive' following Saturday's 5-1 win over Cardiff City.

Marcus Rashford said that new Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 'wants the team to be positive' following Saturday's 5-1 win over Cardiff City in the Premier League.

Solskjaer has replaced Jose Mourinho as head coach of the Red Devils until the end of the season, and the former centre-forward made the perfect start to his reign with a thumping win over Cardiff.

Rashford opened the scoring against Neil Warnock's side with a long-range free kick, and the England international has insisted that it was "just the start".

"He wants us to be positive on the ball and always look for the gaps. That was just the start. We're going to improve and get better at it," Rashford, who now has four Premier League goals for the season, told BT Sport.

"The Christmas period is very busy so it is about recovering and making sure we're ready for the next games. We have to keep improving and go up another level."

United are sixth in the Premier League table, eight points off fourth-placed Chelsea ahead of their Boxing Day clash with Huddersfield Town.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to become United's long-term manager at the end of the campaign, and the London club's last two press conferences have been dominated by such talk.
