Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to bring former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards to Manchester United as part of his revamp, according to a report.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly keen to bring former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards to Manchester United as part of his revamp of the 20-time English champions.

Ratcliffe's arrival as a minority shareholder is expected to be announced in the near future, and it has already been confirmed that Richard Arnold has left his role as CEO of the club.

Former Juventus CEO Jean-Claude Blanc is widely expected to replace Arnold, while the positions of football director John Murtough and director of football operations David Harrison have also been called into question.

Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman continues to be linked with a move to the club, while ex-AC Milan chief Paolo Maldini is also said to be admired by Ratcliffe.

The owner and founder of INEOS will take over football operations at Old Trafford once his 25% purchase for around £1.3bn has been confirmed and ratified by the Premier League.

According to The Independent, ex-Liverpool sporting director Edwards could be targeted by Ratcliffe, although it is unclear whether he is looking to return to football at this moment in time.

If he were to arrive, Edwards could allegedly work in a group including Blanc and INEOS performance director Sir Dave Brailsford.

Liverpool's owners are believed to have made a number of attempts to convince Edwards to extend his contract with the club, but he decided to leave his role at Anfield in the summer of 2022.

Ratcliffe is said to be determined to overhaul a department which has struggled since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson 10 years ago.

At one stage, it did appear that Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani would complete a 100% takeover of the Red Devils.

However, Sheikh Jassim decided to withdraw his offer after becoming frustrated with the position of the Glazer family, who ultimately leaned away from a full sale.

Ratcliffe, who could aid Man United in their attempt to be active in the January market, will initially come in at 25%, but he is said to be determined to complete a full takeover in the future.

There had been speculation surrounding Erik ten Hag's future as head coach due to the team's issues this season, but the Dutchman is allegedly being backed by Ratcliffe.

The 20-time English champions will be aiming to make it five wins from their last six Premier League matches when they head to Everton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
