Wayne Rooney is excited by this year's Manchester derby for the Community Shield.
League champions United face FA Cup winners City at Wembley on Sunday, a week before the new season begins.
"You couldn't get better motivation to start the season with a bang," the 25-year-old told Four Four Two magazine.
"I hadn't even thought about it until I turned on the TV and someone was talking about potentially the best Community Shield ever."
"Playing City is the best way to start," he added.
The England striker was linked with a move to the Blues last season after claiming he wished to leave Old Trafford. He went on to sign a new contract with the club.
