Wayne Rooney believes that snatching the Premier League trophy this year would be the "best" title that Manchester United have ever won.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has admitted that claiming the Premier League title over arch rivals Manchester City would make victory extra special.

The Red Devils are on course to clinching their 20th league title, with their fierce challengers currently sitting two points behind them in the table.

"Would it mean something extra because City are challenging? Yes, of course," said Rooney. "It's the first time for many years that United and City have been going head to head for the title.

"To win it would be great for the players, the fans and the club as a whole and it would definitely be one of the best titles we've ever won if we can do it."

United have the chance to go five points clear of their local rivals with a victory over Blackburn Rovers this evening.
