Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has claimed that Paul Pogba is the only world-class player in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's current squad.
United came under severe criticism for a paltry display against Southampton at the weekend which saw them draw 1-1 despite playing the last 20 minutes against 10 men.
A player who attracted a great deal of criticism was Pogba, with the Frenchman producing an especially below-par first-half performance at St Mary's.
However, speaking to Astro SuperSport, Saha insisted that Pogba was the only world-class player currently playing for the Red Devils.
"He's got the potential to be one of the best - Ballon d'Or potential," he said.
"No disrespect to the other players but he could say 'I'm the only one here who could claim to be a world-class player right now'. At the same time, he's always going to be on the spot because he is the only one.
"If he doesn't perform there's no-one that's going to be asked more from. Pogba tries his best but sometimes there's no-one there to help him. And who's going to get criticised for not performing? It's going to be Pogba."
United's board has been widely chastised by its support for failing to reinforce its midfield this summer following the departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini.
The club also granted moves away for attackers Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, both of whom joined Inter Milan, without securing replacements.
